Katherine Hewitt stepping down as Executive Director
After 3 happy and productive years Katherine Hewitt is moving on from her role as Women & Theatre’s Executive Director.
Katherine joined Women & Theatre in October 2023 during her time at the company she has overseen an exciting and diverse range of projects. She played a key role in the establishment of The Brummie Ensemble, our inclusive adult drama group. During her tenure we have engaged over 7000 people as either audiences or participants. She has continued to build and nurture partnerships within the health sector and higher education institutions, whilst supporting the company’s workforce to become more accessible and representative of the communities we work with. Katherine alongside Artistic Director Adaya Henry has steered W&T through its first 3 years as an NPO and has ensured it has been able to secure the approval of two further extension years which will see the relationship continue until at least early 2028.
Katherine leaves the company with strong partnerships in place and exciting projects on the horizon, building upon the company’s extensive experience of delivering impactful work. We wish her all the best in her new role as Chief Executive at Feeding Coventry.
Katherine said “Women & Theatre were already well known for their ability to reach into places where access to art was more limited or indeed common and I feel we’ve not only preserved this aim but furthered it. I’m proud that our recent work is even more accessible and integrated. It’s been a pleasure to work with such talented and committed people, and I don’t just mean my immediate colleagues I mean our wider team of freelance artists, volunteers and partners who together make what we do possible. I will remain a firm supporter but for now on from the audience.”
Women & Theatre’s search for a new Executive Director will begin shortly, further information on the role and application process will be available on womenandtheatre.co.uk/recruitment
