Jo Gleave leaving Women & Theatre

Posted on Dec 17, 2021

After being part of the team for four years, our Lead Artist Practitioner, Jo Gleave will be leaving Women & Theatre at the end of February 2022.

Jo said “After four wonderful years with Women & Theatre, I have decided it is time to move on and to leave my role as Lead Artist Practitioner. I will be staying in Birmingham and pursuing freelance directing, facilitating and producing work as well as exploring other future ventures. I want to thank all the participants, freelancers and team I have had the privilege of working with over the years. I’m really proud of the work that we have created during this time and I look forward to seeing and supporting the future work of the company.”

Jo has played a vital role in Women & Theatre over the last 4 years, leading our Word Lounge Theatre Company for children in care, young carers & young people with additional needs. She has also directed many of our theatre productions, working both with professional creatives and community casts, including Prime Time, Into The Water and Through the Window.

Jo has also played a vital role in our move to making work digitally, directing Women in Lockdown, Women & Work podcast series and helping to facilitate our Community Performance Club on Zoom.

We will be sad to see Jo leave us but wish her all the best for the future.

Following the news that Jo will be leaving Women & Theatre, we are recruiting a new Lead Artist Practitioner, deadline 12noon 13 January 2022. More information about the role and how to apply here.
