Welcome to The Brummie Ensemble an inclusive drama group for adults (18+), our second year will begin this June at Birmingham Settlement Nature and Wellbeing Centre at Edgbaston Reservoir otherwise known as The Red Shed. The first term will focus on developing skills for theatre and performance with a particular focus on comedy. Working with professional artists over 10 weeks of workshops, ending in a sharing of work in development. The Brummie Ensemble brings people together from different walks of life. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or curious to try theatre for the first time, this is your space to explore and grow.

More about the project:
An inclusive drama group for adults (18+), launching in autumn 2025 at the Legacy Centre of Excellence in Aston. The Brummie Ensemble is the meeting point. For stories waiting to be told and for people who may, otherwise, never have met. Bringing people together from different walks of life – of all generations, backgrounds, identities, and experiences to co-create exciting, original theatre. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or curious to try theatre for the first time, this is your space to explore and grow.
We are particularly keen to hear from people who are care experienced, carers, people with additional needs, and those aged 50+ and are at risk of social isolation.
Women & Theatre have been awarded funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to run The Brummie Ensemble for 3 years. Each year will have two terms and one public performance.
Our second term was at The Birmingham Rep ending with a public performance on Saturday 14 March 2026.
