Building on the success of previous one-off projects, Women & Theatre launched Word Lounge Theatre Company in 2018, working with disadvantaged young people in collaboration with Birmingham Hippodrome, The REP and MAC – Midlands Art Centre until Spring 2020. During the Covid-19 Pandemic Word Lounge Theatre Company continue to work with the young people online.
The project was a unique an opportunity for children in care, young careers and young people with additional needs aged 12 and over.

Due to COVID-19 Word Lounge Theatre Company production, “The Differences Between Us” at Birmingham Hippodrome was cancelled. We’d like to share with you some of the incredible work the young people were working on. This video showcases some of the songs and poems created by the young people. We hope you enjoy.
