It’s been a busy Spring so far for Women & Theatre with performances of Clocking On (part of our WWI Women’s Work project), the beginning of our Boy’s Talk project and ongoing development of our research project, Hidden Harm in Dudley.

Over the next few months we’ve got a number of great events planned and we thought we’d give you a quick low down so you don’t miss out!

A Celebration of Comedy

Come on down to mac birmingham on Saturday 9th May 2015 for a comedy showcase compered by Mrs Barbara Nice.  Bringing together performers from six of our most recent comedy courses, this celebration event promises audiences an afternoon of fun and laughter.

Since July 2014, with funding from Comic Relief, we’ve run comedy courses with bereaved adults and young people, young carers and older adults.

The overwhelming success of each course has led us to creating this celebration event which sees some of the participants return to the mic alongside your favourite Kings Heath housewife Mrs Barbara Nice.

Boy’s Talk

Women & Theatre is working with a talented group of boys from different walks of life to create a new theatre production called Boys Talk. Staged at mac birmingham’s Outdoor Arena, it will be an engaging celebration of male communication with movement, drama and spoken word.

Inspired by the desire to understand the motivations and concerns of young men living in Birmingham, Boys Talk will explore: how, when, where and why boys talk.

The production has been led by the young people involved, working with W&T’s Artistic Director Janice Connolly, Choreographer Jerrel Jackson and Stage Manager Liam Walsh.

Event details

Sat 23rd May, 2.30pm & 6.00pm, Outdoor Arena at mac birmingham, all ages welcome.

Tickets are £5 (£3 for concessions) and should be booked from the mac website in advance.

Please note, this production will be held outside in mac’s Arena. Audience members are advised to bring warm clothing and cushions.
