Spring 2021: Drama Course on Zoom

Deadline: 8 January 2021

Women & Theatre are looking for 2 volunteers to help with a project in spring 2021.

We are particularly keen to recruit volunteers living in Brandwood or neighbouring areas of south Birmingham.

The project:

Women & Theatre runs a Community Performance Club for older adults and carers in Brandwood and surrounding areas of south Birmingham. Involving courses of 10 weekly sessions, the Club provides uplifting activities that encourage older adults and carers to be active, sociable, learn new skills and collaborate to create work that brings people together and strengthens community connections.

In 2020, the project involved a series of Comedy Courses, which since April took place on Zoom. The courses have proved to be a great way for people to get together, be creative, build confidence and make new friends. For 2021, we will move away from comedy and focus on drama and theatre with our spring 2021 course exploring creative ways of developing drama over Zoom. We hope to resume face-to-face delivery later in the year.

The role:

The volunteer will work alongside the creative team to support the older adults and carers taking part in the project.  They will be expected to participate in all project sessions including planning and evaluation.

Weekly sessions:         Mondays: 18 & 25 Jan; 1, 8, 15 & 22 Feb; and 1, 8, 15 & 22 March 2021

3-5pm session plus time either side for planning/ debrief
