Volunteer with us
We are looking for volunteers for our exciting inclusive drama group The Brummie Ensemble supporting us for our second term and first public performance!
The volunteers will work alongside the creative team to support participants.
Volunteers will be expected to participate in Tuesday evening project sessions (see dates below), and the public performance on Saturday 14 March 2026 and including pre session planning and evaluation.
Women & Theatre will reimburse volunteer travel costs (e.g. transportation and mileage) during the duration of the project.
About The Brummie Ensemble
The Brummie Ensemble is a dynamic, inclusive drama group for anyone interested in theatre, performance and finding community through creative collaboration. Whether a seasoned performer or curious to try theatre for the first time, this is the space to explore and grow. It brings people together from different walks of life – broad age range backgrounds, identities, and experiences to co-create exciting, original theatre.
The Brummie Ensemble is open to all but we have a commitment to working with people from below groups:
- Older Adults at risk of social isolation
- People who are Care Experienced
- Carers
- People with additional needs
Access is a priority. We’re committed to making sure everyone can participate meaningfully.
The invite was to come as you are, let’s make theatre that reflects the world around us.
Brummie Ensemble launched during the Autumn and its first term has been at the Legacy Centre of Excellence. Working with professional artists over 10 weeks the group has used a process-based approach, focusing on theatre, performance and music and it is ending in a sharing of work in development. We hope some of this work, along with the techniques will be further developed in the coming term.
In January it will move into its second term which is to be based at The Birmingham Rep No auditions. No experience needed. Only your curiosity. From workshops to full productions, we focus on process, community and the joy of storytelling.
Many of the participants from term 1 will remain involved but we are welcoming a small number of new people. We expect to have a group of roughly 25 participants.
