Women & Theatre are looking for a volunteer to help with a project in Summer 2019.

The project:

Word Lounge Theatre Company is a performance-based theatre company for Looked After Young People, Young Carers and Young People with additional education needs, allowing them to access professional theatre work outside mainstream youth theatres.  The theatre company will continue through 2018-2020, with each term taking place at a different theatre venue – Birmingham Hippodrome, The REP, and Midlands Arts Centre.  In Summer 2019 the group will rehearse at MAC, culminating in a performance in July 2019.

The role:

The volunteer will work alongside the creative team to support the young people taking part in the project.  They will be expected to participate in all project sessions including planning and evaluation, and will be line managed by W&T Lead Artist Practitioner, Jo Gleave.

Dates:

WLTC weekly sessions:

Saturdays 11*, 18 & 25 May, 1, 8, 15, 22 & 29 June, 6 & 13** July 2019

9.30—2pm (including set up & debrief) at MAC

*Sat 11th May will include a ‘meet & greet’ for carers and parents and so staff will be needed until 3pm

**Sat 13th July will be an extended rehearsal session, with staff needed 9.30-4.30pm

Dress Rehearsal:         Friday 19 July 2019, 4-8pm

Performance Day:       Saturday 20 July 2019 (Times TBC)

What we need:

We need someone who is committed, hard-working, flexible, organised, good at working in a team, and ideally someone who has an understanding of theatre and some experience working with YP.  It would be useful if you had the flexibility to do half a day a week project admin in the W&T office, Moseley.

How to apply:

If you are interested in applying, please send a short email to Jo Gleave, Lead Artist Practitioner at jogleave@womenandtheatre.co.uk, stating why you are interested, and any relevant experience. You also need to confirm that you are available for all the above session times.

We will invite shortlisted applicants to an informal interview.

Deadline 30th April 2019
